Assessment
Why should I get a diagnosis?
A diagnosis can allow you to know yourself better, access support and understand what your strengths are and what supports you may need to put in place. Throughout and after the assessment, you will gain understanding of how your brain works. Sometimes, throughout life we feel ‘different’ from others, and a diagnosis may provide you with some answers and clarity. Many people reach adulthood and begin to suspect they may be neurodivergent. There are many different ways that Autism and ADHD can present, especially in girls, women, and gender diverse populations, and symptoms may have been missed in childhood.
Your assessment
Two options will be provided for adults seeking formal diagnosis of Autism and ADHD. Both will include forms being sent to you for completion before a face-to-face assessment session. You do not need a GP referral to access assessment services, but if you have a written referral please email to admin@eucapsychology.com.au.
Prior to both options, you will be sent online assessments and intake forms. For both, these are required to be returned at least a fortnight before your assessment session.
If you would like to bring someone to your appointment, you are welcome to, but please know that at times we may discuss sensitive information.
It is important to note that this is a psychologist-only assessment service, therefore if you wish to explore medication options, you may require additional consultation/assessment by a psychiatrist.
Please note that your report or summary letter will not be sufficient to access NDIS funding. If that is what you require, you will need to engage with a service that can provide NDIS-specific diagnostic assessment and reports.

Booking your assessment
Once you have sent your enquiry, you will be placed on the waitlist and notified when an appointment spot is available. Payment is required to secure your appointment.
Assessment appointments are generally booked at least 1 month in advance, as there are a range of intake forms and psychological assessments that you will be required to complete before your session. This will provide essential background information and allow me to get a full understanding of you.
All intake forms and assessments must be returned at least 2 weeks prior to your booked appointment. The paperwork can be time consuming, so please set some time aside to complete.
This is why payment is required to book your assessment, as the assessment process begins before your session.

Assessment session
Your assessment session will take up to 3 hours and I focus on making sure it is a collaborative discussion, knowing that you are the expert of your own experience. I want to know about your experiences, strengths, challenges and history, while I bring in my expertise around Autism and ADHD.
Throughout our session we will look at your developmental history, executive functioning, social communication style, sensory profile, interests and experiences and see how this aligns with the diagnostic criteria for Autism and/or ADHD.
I pull together all the information from this session, in combination with your intake forms and psychological assessment results and make a diagnostic judgment.

Feedback
If you have chosen the comprehensive option, we book a 50 minute feedback session approx 6-8 weeks after your assessment session to discuss your results and answer any questions you have.
If you have chosen the brief option, I will send your 2 page summary letter via email within 4 weeks of your assessment session.
